President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi held talks on Tuesday with International Monetary Fund (IMF) Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva on the sidelines of the Africa-France Summit in Nairobi, Kenya.

According to Ambassador Mohamed El-Shennawy, spokesperson for the Egyptian Presidency, the meeting focused on ongoing cooperation between Egypt and the IMF regarding the country’s economic reform agenda and efforts to achieve sustainable growth.

El-Sisi expressed Egypt’s appreciation for the partnership with the IMF throughout the implementation of its reform program, which includes a series of structural and economic measures designed to strengthen the economy and support long-term development goals.

The president also welcomed the IMF Executive Board’s approval of the fifth and sixth reviews of Egypt’s reform program earlier this year, stressing that Egypt remains committed to moving forward with reforms despite mounting regional and global economic pressures.

For her part, Georgieva praised Egypt’s determination to continue implementing reforms aimed at maintaining macroeconomic stability, improving fiscal performance, and creating a more attractive business environment.

She further emphasized the IMF’s commitment to continuing close coordination and cooperation with the Egyptian government in support of its economic reform efforts.
